Perhaps what is needed is a clear picture of what god meant when god bestowed the ten commandments upon us.

As clearly stated in one of god's teaching, that is FORGIVE and FORGET.
Yes people do mean things to you and as a human being, you are supposed to forgive those who has sinned against you. Revenge does nothing but bear hatred towards everyone and in the end, even if the person you hate dies, nothing is accomplished as misery is all that's left in your heart.

To forgive is indeed a big deal. Perhaps it is honorable, kind and generous. But to forget? If indeed as mentioned before that the purpose of pain is to remind us of what will hurt us so that we will be stronger and perhaps be kinder to people as we know how it feels, how can we so easily forget what caused that pain in the first place?

The moment you remember your pain, you will also remember the incident. The more you remember the incident, you will feel injustice and perhaps hatred will be born once again in your heart. So how can you 'forget' it altogether? Indeed Jesus has came to the earth to truly explain what the teachings of god is, but Jesus is no longer here and we must find the answer ourselves. God's in his heaven, all's right with the world!
